Jake Fugar Landscapes is a landscape design and construction practice based on the Central Coast of New South Wales.

We specialise in creating landscapes with a primary focus on fostering a connection with nature and leaving a minimal footprint on the earth. Using a sustainable approach to landscaping, we’re able to reduce our environmental impact through the use of various techniques.

Firstly, we aim to work with the existing landscape where possible and reuse existing materials from the site where available, lowering costs in the process. We seek to construct aesthetic, timeless landscapes that transcend current industry trends to ensure their admiration and relevance for generations to come. Introduced materials are recycled or sourced locally and new materials are chosen for their future recyclability. Habitat for biodiversity is always an important consideration, utilising locally native plants that provide food and shelter for birds and insects. We also love to incorporate the use of veggie gardens and fruit trees in various ways to create a sense of empowerment in our clients being able to nourish themselves from their own garden and reduce reliance on industrial agriculture.

All of these strategies are utilised to create beautiful, functional spaces that invite people to spend more time outdoors and connect to their local environment.

Jake’s passion for sustainability stems from a rural and nature-focused upbringing that involved lots of growing fruit and veggies and looking after a flock of chickens. These formative years were bolstered by a few life changing experiences, such as working with Australian sustainability pioneer Joost Bakker on Melbourne & Sydney projects, and also completing a permaculture design certificate with renowned educator John Champagne in Bermagui. The lessons learnt during these stints combined with a lifetime of reflection and research has lead to a unique approach to sustainability and its application in a landscape setting.
